I was recently asked to talk about Social media in the hospitality industry at ‘MA500’ a Morning Advertiser conference in Leeds. I had 20 mins which is not long when you could go on about one topic for days and yes those who know me know that I can talk!
I decided to focus on content, after all content is king! And to make it really simple based on the research and the hospitality businesses I had worked with over the last few years, I focused on the types of posts that worked well in bars and restaurants. I quantified this on this occasion as good reach and engagement. I also thought it would be fun to use some ‘real life’ examples from the room, which went down well.
I came up with my own acronym for the types of posts that worked well, based around the word ‘POSTS’ (see what I did there!)
POSTS
P = People
O = Optical
S = Sneak peek
T = Talk Community (can also mean testimonials and topical)
S = Stories
There was a little poetic license when it came to naming each letter, as you can see!
I am going to share with you some ideas connected to each letter over the course of the next few weeks. So if you are in hospitality and tourism and often sit in front of your laptop and think ‘What the hell am I going to post today!?’, keep an eye out for some inspiration.
